Welcome to my Challenge

Hello guys! My name is Kelli Anne this blog is about the new challenge I'm setting for myself!

What's the challenge you may ask??? Why it's Meat Science to Meat Defiance!!!! and the challenge is ACCEPTED!!!

Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm from Texas and my two degrees are in agriculture and I have always been a meat eater and, since about the age of 12 I struggled with my weight no matter how active I was. The last few years I've been at my worst. (SPOILER: I'm NOT posting weights and measurements; at least not at this point!!) Last November I made the choice to join Weight Watchers and I made some good progress the first 6 months but, the last 3 months or so I gained some of it back... one week I'll lose the next I gain!! This is UNACCEPTABLE to me, because I WANT to change my life and my weight and my health!

So what is the Meat Science to Meat Defiance challenge I've set for myself you ask?!?!? Well I'll tell you!

September 1st I'm making a change! Slow at first and I'll see how it goes, but my challenge to myself is to take me, a meat every other meal type person to someone who eats meat no more than ONCE (YES I said ONCE) a WEEK!!!! I'm talking a 85% or MORE PLANT BASED MEAL EATER!!!! Some of my friends or family reading this are probably thinking yea yea yea you won't last. Honestly I think I'll do okay. It will be hard and I know I'll struggle some, but I'm hoping that it becomes less and less of a struggle for me. The first few months I'll be learning substitutions for things that I love to eat and I'll be adjusting my body to less meat in my diet. I actually have tried some Vegan food before such as Morning Star (that's the meat tasting NON-meat frozen food products!) and I liked them a lot!! So if I'm craving a burger no problem. Want chicken nuggets no problem.

I'm ALSO joining the local gym on the 1st. One of the locations is so close I can walk there and back and put in a good hour of working out or more some days!! DOUBLE workout!!! And, I'm staying on Weight Watchers for the weigh-ins, online food tracker, and activity tracker!

I decided to start a blog for this for these reasons:

1. To keep me on track and accountable
2. Support from friends/family and others who have done this before
3. Tips for substitutions or things to try either Vegetarian wise or workout wise
4. Recipes, recipes, recipes I mean I can google but I LOVE to cook and I like creating if you've created a Vegan friendly dish please share!

I will post things like:

1. Struggles I'm having with the food change or working out
2. Triumphs with food changes and working out
3. New foods or recipes I've tried and if I thought they were EPIC or an EPIC FAIL!
4. My weekly foods (might be bland choices at first, but that's all apart of learning)
5. My progresses

THANK YOU SO MUCH for checking out my blog and THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!!!

I made this decision for several reasons and I'm excited to try new foods, learn new things, and see where it takes me!
